Everlast is connected with boxing, despite the fact that the company began in the Bronx in 1910 as a swimwear maker. Seventeen-year-old Jacob Golomb, the son of a tailor and a passionate swimmer, was dissatisfied with swimsuits of the period, and began producing suits that he guaranteed would last a whole year. He proudly named them "EVERLAST," and while the swimsuits did not survive history, the word did.
